Pop Trash Newz

September 2, 2004

So.... its been FOREVER AND A DAY since this site was updated. However, there hasn't been a whole lot of news to report. There have been a ton of POP TRASH shows, a benefit concert... but that is about it. I'll be working to put some performance pictures up from the last six months or so.

This website is going to endure a massive overhaul that will move it off of tripod and onto it's own URL. And hopefully there will be some other exciting announcements.

So I apologize for the lack of updating, I shall try to be better.

November 20, 2003

Pop Trash just recently filmed two more television shows MUSIC @ MUNCHIES and THIS WEEK IN ALBION. No date on when those will air. MUSIC @ MUNCHIES had performances both by Pop Trash and The McBride Brothers, as did THIS WEEK IN ALBION.

DIAMOND ACOUSTIC PRESENTS SONGWRITERS CIRCLE will air August 15th on channel 57 @ 10 p.m. There is also an entire episode dedicated to POP TRASH upcoming. No information on when that episode will air.

This website will begin the process of being redesigned in the next few months. This is why updates have been slow.

August 3, 2003

Pop Trash's albums "Tracking Contradiction" and "E.P. Acoustic" are now availible to purchase online. CDBABY, the online megastore for Indie music now keeps the POP TRASH collection in stock. Feel free to visit each cd and, if you've heard the album, write a review. Also try to check out other musicians / bands on CDBABY. You can do a mainstream search, meaning you can look for indie artists that sound like your favorite mega-group. If you want indie artists that sound like THE BEATLES or METALLICA, go to search and choose the 'Sounds Like...' option.

POP TRASH recently filmed an episode of the "DIAMOND ACOUSTIC" television show. He was a part of the 'Songwriters Circle' with musicians Jen Fisher, Matt Taylor, and Kevin Hiatt. Kyle was the youngest member of the pannel. The episode will be premiering in August for Fort Wayne, IN residents. The episode has been nominated for a Philo T. Farnsworth Award for excellence in television entertainment. The winners will be announced at the ceremony in October.

Plans have changed on a big tour. Instead, Kyle opted to begin exploring new business opportunities. He will be doing a few gigs here and there, but nothing thus far outside of the midwest. Apologies to fans on both coasts. Upcoming dates include...

May 10, 2003

Haven't updated for a while, so I'll give you the highlights...

*Kyle is in the midst of planning a summer tour, no dates have been confirmed yet

*April 27, Kyle was spotted backstage at SLATER HILL in West Lafayette, IN hanging out and talking to fans with Donny, Brian, and Doug of the VERVE PIPE before their show to end Grand Prix Week.

*Kyle has once again mentioned the idea of returning to the studio this summer to put the finishing touches on his new album. However, for right now, it remains "E.P. ACOUSTIC".

*And finally, Kyle has told me that he has decided not to join the band MAD AT GRAVITY. This is what he emailed me:

"Basically, the band situation was a mess. They lost J.Lynn (who i would have been replacing) and one of their guitarists, they lost their record deal with ARTISTDirect, they were changing their name, and their musical direction was skewed from mine. We both tried to compromise to make it work out, but in the end I'm pretty sure its best that we didn't join forces. I am going to be very interested to see what they end up releasing... same with J.Lynn."

So, that unfortunately will not be happening. Next week Kyle will be attending the 2003 WINDSONG INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (where last year he won songwriting honors) in support of the film he wrote, starred in, and composed the music for called "THE G IS SILENT".

April 9, 2003

The picture gallery is finally up and running. It has taken me a while to collect all the pictures and upload them to the site and I apologize. Please visit to see pictures of Pop Trash.

Also, Kyle has recently been spotted out and about. Last Thursday, he was spotted at the opening of Tony Enrietta's show "Nuns, Donkeys, and Waffles" with Brian Armstrong (lead singer for the band Stere-o-type) at the Renner art Gallery. Then he was seen at the opening of Nick Friedrich's play "Isn't He Scrumptous?" on Sunday.

March 28, 2003

Three new shows have been annouced and confirmed:

April 12, 2003 - The Dawes Complex @ 1:00 p.m. (Carlinville, IL)
April 20, 2003 - Cicero's @ 8:00 p.m. (St. Louis, MO)
April 26, 2003 - 21 Rock (St. Louis, MO)

March 22, 2003

*March 20, 2003 .... Kyle performed a show at the DeMuzio Center @ 8pm with special guests KARMA 219. Karma 219 opened the show, and for the last few songs, Kyle joined them on stage. They played jammed for about four songs and then performed "One Hand Clapping". Kyle then went into his solo show.

Some other news and updates... so far nothing has been annouced regarding the MAD AT GRAVITY situation. Kyle said "I've been talking with the band since late December... so far nothing has been resolved. I am a big fan of what the band had done... its just coming to terms with each other. Thats the biggest problem at the moment."

*April 12, 2003 .... Rumors have it that Pop Trash will performing at Bothwell Auditorium (meaning Kyle performs with a backing band). This have yet to be confirmed by Kyle or his management.

January 29, 2003

LOTS OF UPDATES: Now its been me who has been bad about updating. Kyle had been giving me plenty of information. Heres what you've missed (maybe):

*January 7, 2003 .... Kyle released the his new cd "E.P. Acoustic" to rave reviews

*January 8, 9, 2003 .... Kyle celebrates his new release with two surprise shows at THE GROUND LEVEL and HIGHER GROUNDS to very positive reviews. Such reviews will be uploaded onto this site very soon.

*January 24, 2003 .... this bit of gossip comes courtesy of Southern California... the band MAD AT GRAVITY is searching for a new lead singer. Rumors have it that our very own Kyle Lowden might possibly be the new lead singer. These leads are inconclusive but Freeze Management reports that Kyle and the band have been talking. Kyle has yet to confirm this. Mad At Gravity is a band from Southern California who recently just finished a tour with FILTER, SE7ENDUST, AUDIOVENT, and JERRY CANTRELL. They recently had a song, 'Walk Away', appear on the "Reign of Fire" soundtrack. Click on the link above to visit their website.

*January 29, 2003 .... Kyle will be performing a solo show tonight at the DeMuzio Center, beginning at 8pm

December 22, 2002

LOTS OF UPDATES: Kyle has been a little slow on giving me updates so I apologize for not updating the web site for so long. Heres what has been going on:

*NOVEMBER 17, 2002 ... Kyle participated in a photoshoot with photographers Jorge Ruiz and Johanna Brand.

*NOVEMBER 29, 2002
... Kyle was seen with Indiana University coach Mike Davis and Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy at Conseco Fieldhouse. They were watching the Indiana Pacers and the Washington Wizards battle it out.

*DECEMBER 17, 2002 ... Kyle had a surprise appearence and performance at the CUPBEARER COFFEEHOUSE in Auburn, IN. Fans that showed up really approved. He is said to be appearing there again January 4th, although that is not confirmed yet.

November 15, 2002

OUT AND ABOUT: Mr. Socialite is at it again. Kyle was seen last weekend backstage with the Verve Pipe. He and drummer Donny Brown were seen talking it up in the lounge of Chadwick Court as well as in the arena for the opening band, Xanadu. He remained in the house for the Verve Pipe's show. "It was incredible. They are playing the best music they've played in their careers. Donny's (Brown) songwriting has definitely improved the overall feel of the band. Everybody needs to pick up their latest album UNDERNEATH. It was one of the best albums of the last two years."

November 5, 2002

OUT AND ABOUT: It seems as if the only news anymore is about Kyle and his social life. Beginning Thursday October 31, 2002, Kyle was seen at the NACA Conference in Grand Rapids, MI. Kyle was there to be a judge and just a general spectator for many new up and coming musical acts in the industry. The NACA conference is a great deal like the European music festivals. They have several days of performances and a wide variety of music styles and performers. Then, unlike European festivals, after each showcase there is a market backstage for the fans to meet the performers. Kyle said that there were tons of people roaming around with cameras that were associated with NACA and he posed for a few and also posed for some fans. This is how Kyle summed up the festival, "It was big. The crowd was possibly over 1,500 or so for each showcase. That'd be my estimation, which is really cool for the up and coming bands, to play for those large crowds. The markets were crazy to be in. Everybody wanted a piece of everybody." The festival ended Sunday November 3.

October 25, 2002

OUT AND ABOUT: Kyle was seen tonight at the DeMuzio Center. He was the MC for his friend Matthew West's storyteller-like performance. It was West's first performance on his new tour since his nearly fatal accident. As well as being the MC, Kyle was also there to watch the show. "Whats the point if I'm just going to talk right? Who wants to see me?" West performed extremely well. It was a very enjoyable evening. Kyle would also like to congratulate Matthew West for his recent signing with UNIVERSAL SOUTH Records as well as his recent engagement. Things seem to be going well for Mr. West.

Those pictures that I promised you what seems like years ago will be up very soon. We have been having server problems. Another server problem has been that we were not able to get the lyrics page working. We think that problem has been solved. So visit the lyrics page now and be patient about the pictures! Also an interview I did about a month ago with Kyle will be posted very soon.

October 15, 2002

Kyle Lowden will be heading back into the studio December 2002 for a recording session with famed engineer Arvel Bird. The session will be in Nashville, Tennessee at Brush Hill Studios for Singing Wolf Records. Kyle was quoted as saying "Recently, I've had a bit of a musical regeneration. I have started using the piano more. I have never really written on piano before, but now I find myself just sitting down and playing for hours. Its really been new for me... who knows what will make it onto the next album, I'm just enjoying this new writing tool."

October 3, 2002

MORE OUT AND ABOUT : Kyle Lowden was spotted at the opening for yet another photographer. Tuesday, he was spotted at the opening of Paul Clark's new exhibit at the Renner Gallery. In other news, more and more requests have been pouring in for Pop Trash's music. Pictures will be coming soon!

September 29, 2002

OUT AND ABOUT : Kyle Lowden was spotted a few different places this past week. Earlier in the week, Kyle was spotted at the opening for a new photography exhibit of Ireland at the Renner Gallery by Tabitha Weaver. Then Friday night, he was spotted at the DeMuzio Center, both in the audience as well as backstage before the show where he was seen with friend, musician, and that night's performer Bari Koral....who had an incredible performance herself.

September 20, 2002

Those new pictures I've promised are coming very soon. These are shots from the most recent publicity shoot for Elenerex Records. Kyle said he has plans on going back into the studio sometime in the next few months; most likely December. He wants to promote 'Tracking Contradiction' (which he released last month) but he's not sure what will happen. "It seems that I could be doing smaller, more intimate shows for the time being, but hopefully in the spring, I can put a band together." As far as what else Kyle's been doing,, "Recently, I've been playing more piano...infact I don't think I've played guitar for probably a month."

September 16, 2002

OUT AND ABOUT: Kyle Lowden was spotted this past Saturday at the Verizon Wireless Ampitheater to take in the final show of the LENNY KRAVITZ, PINK, ABANDONED POOLS summer tour."It was very enjoyable. Lenny and his band were incredible. Pink was a much better perfomer than I was expecting, Abandoned Pools showed a great deal of talent... in a way I was checking out my competition: Abandoned Pools being another one-mand band. They performed well...everyone."
